06 L’ORÉALAI AGENT INVENTION
INVENTING AN AI AGENT TO ELEVATE DAILY BEAUTY ROUTINES.
L’Oréal dominates the beauty industry, with a market cap four times larger than its nearest rival. But L’Oréal is anything but complacent—it’s a pioneer. And that’s where this challenge began.
L’Oréal wanted to stay at the forefront of customer personalization—the defining dynamic sweeping the beauty industry. Through a five-step approach, we explored how technology could elevate service and expertise across the entire beauty experience.
We experimented with AI agents, digital mirrors, lens technology, and wellbeing trend analysis to create a new kind of beauty experience. When we examined the current landscape of beauty expertise, we discovered a gap:
- Customer needs were well met at two extremes—either in reactionary moments (fixing a beauty issue) or indulgent experiences (spa visits, luxury treatments).
- But “in-the-moment”, expert guidance throughout the daily beauty routine was largely neglected.
We invented the Beauty Assistant to solve this.
By transforming the Google Nest Hub into an omnipresent beauty assistant, we created a seamless, AI-powered companion that guides, instructs, and inspires at every step of the beauty journey. From morning routines to monthly salon visits and beyond, the Beauty Assistant served up the latest techniques and expert advice, ensuring customers remained aesthetically on-point.
In doing so, we proved that artificial intelligence isn’t just about brains—it’s about beauty, too.
